Sun Goddess
Amaterasu Omikami is the central deity of Shinto mythology, revered as the radiant Goddess of the Sun and the universe from whom the Japanese Imperial family claims direct lineage. Famous for the legend of the Heavenly Rock Cave, her retreat plunged the world into darkness until mirth and reflection coaxed her out, restoring light to the heavens and earth. She represents order, purity, and the vital life force that sustains all of nature.
